HOSPITALS AND PRISONS

The hospital and prisons arm of AWO is a monthly outreach. In the hospitals the gospel is preached and patience prayed for. The same is also done in the prisons. The salvation message is preached and prayers offered up to God for the needs of the inmates. This arm of the outreach also counsels inmates and provide legal aid for prisoners with minor problems and  challenges.

In both the hospital and prisons, material gifts are also offered to meets basic needs of patients and inmates respectively.

Praise Report
August 2017, Prison Ministry:

Calvary greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ who keeps us healthy and prosperous for the praise of His name. In this new month, I pray  God will empower us the more to do His pleasure, the reason for which we were created.
Welcome to September. By His grace you  will continually enjoy maximum security and protection. You, your family, friends and well wishers in Jesus Name. Amen.

We visited Oko prison on Thursday 31st of August. We went prepared to minister to lifers in the condemned cells. However, we couldn’t do everything we planned because  a football team from Christ Embassy  was around to play a football match with a team culled out from amongst the lifers.  So they were all already on the field getting ready to commence the match when we came in.  Of course we were there exactly 12 noon, the time  approved for us. But the coincidence denied us what we had prepared to experienced for two months: The ability to put smiles on lifers’ faces and assure them of the hope of eternity and God’s unexpected intervention that can happen to free a condemned person like Evangelist David.

We had a great time of fellowship with a lot of the inmates who were not involved in the soccer match and we are believing God that the seeds we sowed in their hearts will bear fruits, and that they will continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of God. Six inmates gave their hearts to Jesus and a few others re-dedicated their lives to God. Praise God! The word is working.

The testimony of God’s mighty deliverance for evangelist David made an impact on the inmates and sixteen of them committed to three days of fasting and praying while also studying the book “Now that you are born again”. We will continue to stand in faith with them. It is worth noting that some of these inmates have been awaiting trial for up to nine years, while others have been abandoned by their families and friends. The love of Jesus that we show them is the only thing that keeps them going.

On our way back home we visited Oko Prison annex by Central Hospital to see an inmate, who got in there  because he robbed a church.  His term comes to an end June, next year.  We gave him books, tracts, some cash and some toiletries. We also extended the love to four other of his friends. Two inmates asked for two big complete bibles, including the pastor of one of the cells at the main prison. We are believing God to meet these and other ministry needs.

Dearly beloved partner, If there is anything you  can join us to do for any of these inmates awaiting trial, don’t hesitate one moment. We are in dire need of lawyers who can volunteer their time and take up some of these cases as  a service to the Lord.
We give God all the praise for yet another month of victory and success and  the privilege to be of service to his kingdom. Hallelujah!

June 2017, Prisons Ministry :
Once again we thank God for His grace to do His will.  Every new visit to the prison gets better because the officials have come to know us. We were four that visited this time and Pastor Roli was the only female. Three were not available and one who gave birth about three months ago is still nursing her baby.  For now we are a team of four men and five women; but on a visitation day to the prison we select two men and two women to go with me and Pastor Roli since the car can only  take a maximum of six.
All the same, we had a glorious time. The three brothers took three cells and Pastor Roli took a female cell. The time given was just about 25 minutes because the whole inmates were about to gather for an official meeting. I told my team mates to take only names of those who gave their lives to Jesus Christ because of time constraint. Eighteen(18) people gave their hearts to Jesus.  As usual, 17 who were able to get a temporary hall pass to meet with us received a gift of N200 each.
Please continue to join us to pray for these new converts  using Ephesians 1:16-23, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory may give unto then the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him…
Our next visit is going to be in the month of August. We are making arrangements to visit and minister to those on death role. We sincerely covet your prayers to have the right message for these ones and that the Spirit of God will take charge and take control.
At the end of July we are going to UBTH(university of Benin teaching hospital) for the first time.  We intend to start with SAVAN wards (i.e. accident victims).  Also we need you to stand in faith with us for the healing and quick recovery of patients and all those we will be ministering to; that God will stretch forth his hands to heal and perform miracles through us and by the name of his dear son Jesus. Hallelujah!
April 2017:
The first part of the year has been busy for us and  we are moving as we are led by the Holy Spirit. We are  Happy and excited that we are privileged to be chosen to do His good will. Nothing means anything to us except to be able to please Him that has sent us. We visited Central  hospital in April.  It went well as usual.  We visited the women’s wards and male orthopedic wards same day. Some of the patients were really bad especially in the orthopedic wards but we prayed and believed that God would do His part and there will be a speedy recovery. Many patients were happy.  Their  family members were excited.  They prayed and prayed and prayed.
We believe that God who has begun a good work will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ…
March 2017 : We are good in every ramification of the word. God is continually good to us and He is helping us to do His good will.  Our hospital visitation was great. The tempo is building and team members are enjoying the flow. There is no more struggle. They are doing it with joy. We didn’t have to support anybody’s bill this time because no one asked for such help.  This month we are also going to the prison but next  month we are going to our village to minister to children on Children’s Day. We are packaging a lot of goodies for these neglected children to put smiles on their faces. That gives us the opportunity to affect my kindred also. See pictures by following the link :Awo Rural impact ; Awo Prison visitation
